Today, the 27th of April, marks my 3 year anniversary of blogging! For my last 2 bloggerversary posts I tried to do something a bit different in order to mark the occasion. This year I decided to do photoshoot where I tried to recreate some of my mum’s outfits from when she was young and a similar age to me. As well as using my own clothing in the looks I also used clothing or accessories of hers in each one of the 8 outfits that I styled. I wouldn’t necessarily wear all these outfits but it was really fun to try and copy the old photographs. I do apologise for the poor quality of the photographs of my mum but they are old and also had to be scanned into the computer. I hope you enjoy this slightly different style of post and here’s to the future of this blog and many more years of blogging! š
Look 1- Flowy Skirt
Mum: My mum on holiday wearing a white sleeveless top and peach flowy long skirt.
Me: I am wearing a white sleeveless top from Topshop and styled it with my mum’s light pink maternity dress which I made into a skirt.
Look 2- Teal Satin
Mum: With one her best friends and my dad was cropped out of the picture to her left. She is wearing a white roll neck top with teal satin harem trousers and has accessorized with pearl necklace and earrings.
Me: Since I didn’t have anything similar to either items I swapped round the colours and wore this second-hand teal satin strapless top with white jeans and then added my mum’s pearl necklace and my own pearl earrings.
Look 3- Casual Stripes
Mum: On holiday standing by a port and her outfit comprises of jeans, striped top, navy cardigan and white plimsolls.
Me: I decided to style my light wash Levi’s jeans with Brandy Melville striped t-shirt and my mum’s navy cardigan. For shoes I slipped on my Office flatform loafers.
Look 4- Navy and Burgundy
Mum: I have to say this navy 2-piece of my mum’s does look very dated especially seeing how young people dress today but I still think she looks very elegant. She finishes off the look with burgundy hat, gold chocker and navy peep-toe court shoes.
Me: I have styled this navy skater dress from Asos with H&M rose gold chocker, Anthropologie studded burgundy hat and Hobbs studded burgundy brogues.
Look 5- China Print
Mum: She is wearing a navy cardigan with china print skirt with matching headband and blue sunglasses.
Me: I am wearing the same blue sunglasses of my mum’s with her navy cardigan and H&M china print shorts.
Look 6- Denim and Florals
Mum: On her hols again my mum is wearing a floral top with denim shorts, black belt, sunglasses and navy slip ons.
Me: I was pretty pleased with this outfit as it is almost identical to my mum’s. I am wearing a floral top from River Island with Monki high-waisted denim shorts, my mum’s belt, Asos sunglasses and Urban Outfitters brogues.
Look 7- White dress
Mum: Looking very tanned in long white dress worn with white loafers and chunky earrings.
Me: I am wearing a white ribbed skater dress from H&M styled with M&S blush minimalist heels and my mum’s earrings.
Look 8- Wide leg trousers
Mum: Looking fab in these wide leg trousers, double breasted navy jacket, navy hat, white top and navy peep-toe courts.
Me: I am wearing Topshop wide leg trousers, a white vest from La Redoute, Zara Navy blazer, my mum’s navy hat and M&S blush minimalist heels.
I really thought this was such a fun and beautiful post! It shows how fashion evolves, however, repeats itself as well. Great job!
Thank you so much- glad you liked it! X š
